The Tracking Indian Youth Workers Media Fellowship is dedicated to documenting the lives, aspirations, and experiences of young workers in India. As we bring you the next story in this series, we are also excited to introduce the fellow behind it- Vaishnavi Bhat. Learn about Vaishnavi in her own words-
“I am currently pursuing my bachelors in Psychology and Sociology at Mount Carmel College Bengaluru. I enjoy reading a good fat book for hours and love hanging out with my close ones. What drew me to this fellowship was the underlying social impact and analysis of the youth population. I believe that true satisfaction of work comes when one does good for the society. Going by JFK’s words, “ask not what your country can do for you, rather what you can do for your country.””
Rajesh Das, a 27 year old security guard in Banglore- “I remind myself that I have to work to make a living, and knowing that my family looks up to me keeps me going. I also know that I am the only one who can at least make their lives a little easier.”
Manoj Singh Bisht, 25 year old street food vendor in Kolkata- “I’m grateful that my business is running smoothly. The years of constant criticism about my place in life are finally behind me. Now, I am treated with more respect back home because I have lifted my family out of poverty. I am still learning, but I am happy with where I am in life for now.”
